arrange your activities while in Khao Lak. There
are, of course, many such shops and this is only a small
sampling.
Just about every shop can arrange the
different day trips and tours - be it diving, biking,
rafting or even journeys out into Phang Nga Bay, up to
Khao Sok - or diving/snorkeling trips to the Similan or
Surin Islands.
Discounts are often on offer if you
ask - and person who lives in Thailand (Thai or
foreigner) would certainly ask, so it is okay for you to
ask too.
Ideally, book any activities and tours
locally. One reason is that such activities tend
to cost much more when booked through your travel agent
back home. It is not uncommon for a B400 massage
to be booked via a travel agent for as much as B4000.
Markups won't usually be that high - but it does happen. Compare that to the discount on the regular price that
you may ask for when you here and it just makes sense to
arrange things when you arrive.
Another reason to book locally is that
the money is more likely to stay in Khao Lak and help
the people who actually serve you and provide you with
an enjoyable time. If you feel service is
excellent and the time you spend enjoyable - you can
leave a nice tip with the money you saved by purchasing
the service locally.
