Khao Lak Photos and Update on September 3See also page one and page three of this update. Page two of Khao Lak Guide and Update for Sept 3.On this page: Asparas Khao Lak, La Flora and Ramada Khao Lak - and a bit of the area.
Note: This photo of the beach in the area of the Asparas was at low low tide on a rainy day.
Down on the south side of Cape Pakarang we find the Asparas. At first I wasn’t optimistic, but part of the resort is very close to completion (the north wings) and part is still in the mid-stages of construction. By mid-stage I mean the noisy parts are probably completed and what is left is interior work, wiring, plumbing, etc and landscaping – there probably won’t be cement trucks arriving at the property day and night. This is a view of the resort from the beach front.
This photo is also from the beach front, the northern wings are almost completed. Don’t let the photos discourage you, you will amazed at how fast the local folks can create a garden paradise from a muddy center court!
There is probably only one small independent, non-resort type restaurant in the area, though there could well be more come high season - they pop up quickly. This restaurant is a good 12-15 minute walk from the Asparas – heading north toward the Palm Galleria. Closed at the moment, but it was quiet rainy low season day too.
Loads of other construction in the area - but most of it is nearing completion.
Heading south again to the Ramada and La Flora on Bang Niang Beach: plenty of small Thai beachfront restaurants in the area to the north of the resorts.
Both resorts have excellent seafront pools – though the La Flora pool might be considered smallish by recent standards.
Consider also the Mukdara – immediately to the north of the La Flora – lower prices (for some accommodation), bigger bungalow/villas, bigger seafront pool, closer to the restaurants area along the northern Bang Niang beach front.
The Mukdara and La Flora have a good selection of very nice seafront bungalows (La Flora left, Mukdara right).
The general design of the Ramada
(below) was quite pleasing – modern minimalist Thai maybe, lots of
open space and teak. Spacious center grounds
Below is Bang Niang Beach in the area in front of the La Flora and Ramada Resorts - taken from the Mukdara..
As we drive south again, a view of one of Arandora's favorite restaurants - in that area anyway - The Takieng, out on the main road.
