Khao Lak Restaurants
in the Khao Lak Town - Nang Thong Beach Area
(Baan La On)
For many people this is "Khao Lak Town" though
officially it is Baan La On - but certainly this town
area is often what many people have come to know first -
on their first visit to Khao Lak.
From north to south [see some recommended favorites near
the bottom of the page]:
The Dome - at C-2
on the map - in the northeast corner of the new Khaolak
Town Plaza.
O'Conner's Irish Pub, which reputedly also offers an
excellent Thai cooking course, is at C-5
Discovery Cafe, on the west side of
the road is at B-6.
The Dragon Restaurant and Bar is on
the east side of the main road and set back a bit at C-8
Scuba Groupie's - a fun sort of place is at B/C-10,
right below the page wrinkle in the scan.
Sun Star Siam Restaurant is on your left heading out of
town going south, across from the Khao Lak Laguna, at
B-11.
Almost immediately south of the Sun Star - is the
Sawasdee Restaurant [right] - another popular favorite -
at B-12 on the map.
A Few Favorite Restaurants in Khao Lak Town Area
Below is a photo of the beachfront restaurant at the
Nang Thong Resort - right on Nang Thong Beach - try
their potatoes fried up with bacon, egg, onions -
declicious! Look in the potatoes section of the
menu, though it sounds like a breakfast dish - you won't
find it in that section.
Hearty - a good start to the day if you have the dish
for breakfast. It will power you through those
long walks up and down the beach. High tide and
windy - you can get some sea spray on you at this
restaurant. A-7 on the map.
Depending on how long you stay in the
Khao Lak area - there may come a time when you have had
enough Thai food and would like some Western food - and
the Viking more than fits the bill - great sandwiches,
steaks and much more. B/C-9 on the map.
The Viking is in a great location for
people wanting to stroll the shops in town - and maybe
needing to refuel along the way.
One of the BEST Thai food restaurants
in town, in the author's opinion, is Jai - located
opposite Dr. Chusak's Clinic at B/C-4 on the map. Also
some cheap bungalows behind the restaurant if you like
to sleep near your food source.
The Sala Thai - another favorite - at
B/C-6 on the map is located across from and a bit north
of the Nang Thong Supermarket.
And . . . last but not least - try the
beachfront restaurant at the Baan Khao Lak Resort -
GREAT Penang Ped (duck) and some wonderful dessert
dishes. Photo here is taken from the roof of the

love every bit of it.
