Koh Kho Khao (Kho Khao Island)Undiscovered Thailand! (LOTS of photos - may take a while to load)
A relic of the 2004 tsunami Koh Kho Khao Island - 16 kilometers of undeveloped paradise. Perhaps too quiet at this point. Not many beach shack restaurants. At most resorts there is nothing in the immediate vicinity except a beautiful beach - with only you on it. But - it is a stunningly quiet and peaceful place. A nice break from other areas of Thailand. Almost every resort is primarily bungalows. The ferry - B100 for a car - B20 for a motorbike - open 7AM to 6PM
Taco Time - used to be on Nang Thong Beach - six employees lost in the 2004 tsunami - now reopened on Koh Kho Khao Island - food just as great as it was before. Khun Nan, the owner, is optimistic about the future - here he is with a photo of his old restaurant in Khao Lak:
and, his restaurant - just down the road from the ferry, backing on to The Andaman Princess Resort on Koh Kho Khao
The Andaman Princess Resort
Here's the beach in front of the Andaman Princess. Deserted and beautiful!

The C&N Resort - under construction right now - great discounts.
It is all quiet and peaceful. Perhaps too much so at the moment. Catch it before it catches on. If nothing else - it is a great day trip from Khao Lak - only about 25 minutes north of Khao Lak town - plus ten minutes on the ferry.
