Thai
Muang Loop Drive
This is
an easy drive that will take an hour at
most, round trip, once you start at the main
intersection in Thai Muang - about 25
minutes south of Khao Lak.
As long
as you are in the area - in addition to this
loop drive - consider turning right at the
main intersection (as you come into town
from Khao Lak) and head up to the beach area
[left] and the many fine local restaurants
there [bottom of page].
Note: the
map of the main intersection in Thai Muang
[below] is a bit of an estimation and the
exact compass directions are NOT exact, but
when you come to this intersection you will
know what to do.
For
the Thai Muang Loop Drive:
When
arriving at the main intersection of Thai
Muang (the only intersection with a blinking
traffic light - or any traffic light at
all), continue straight down a small town
road - noted as "West - To BoDan Beach" on
the map to the right. It is not main
highway as the other three directions from
the intersection are.
Follow
that road for about seven kilometers and you
will drive past a local Chinese temple,
through a rural village area, shrimp farms
[photo below] and quiet countryside.
At about
seven kilometers you will come to a
T-Junction. Turn right and you will go
to BoDan Beach (see info on that drive from
the menu) and if you turn left you will go
back out to the main highway Route 4.
When you get to Highway Route 4 - turn left
to get back to Thai Muang or right to head
down to Phuket - and the Hot Springs Drive -
also on this website.

Refreshing! Give it a
try.
You can't get lost as
there are few roads in the area and no major
junctions off these roads. Take your time,
drive slow, and enjoy a slice of traditional
Thai life.
