Khao Lak Resorts: By Area

Though the number of resorts in the Khao Lak area is not huge by international standards, you will still be very spoiled for choices.

From quiet and secluded bungalows sitting absolute beachfront to five-star boutique resorts overlooking the sea - Khao Lak really does have it all.

Day dream a bit, and cruise through the choices offered on Khao Lak Lovers.  You'll be glad you did.

Nang Thong Beach Area Resorts

Khaolak Paradise ResortNang Thong Beach is probably the most popular destination in the Khao Lak area. Stroll its long beach and you will know why.  It is an easy walk to beachside restaurants, great snorkeling is on offer in the rocky area and the sea invites you to just float around for a few hours.  Most resorts are within a ten to twelve minute walk into the village area for even more restaurants, a few bars and shopping.

This beach is home to more resorts and options  than the other beaches - but Bang Niang Beach is quickly catching up.  The southern end of Nang Thong Beach is known as Sunset Beach.

Bang Niang Beach Area Resorts

Ramada Resort Khao LakOnce primarily a backpackers area - Bang Niang Beach is growing up with first class accommodation.  Another long soft-powder beach (that's what Khao Lak is all about!) is on offer here.

Bang Niang Beach is also home to the areas biggest traditional market - a favorite of people who want to experience a bit of the local culture.

Lots of easy-to-walk-to shops and restaurants in this area.

A favorite area of beachcombers as Cape Pakarang ("coral" in Thai) washes up great shells and interesting pieces of coral overnight.  Those that enjoy an early morning beach walk, will not be disappointed here.

Both beaches offer a selection of local restaurants right on the sand.  Cape Pakarang is about a ten minute drive north of the main areas of Khao Lak.  Some people feel it is a bit isolated - other love the uncrowded beaches.  Most resorts in the area will offer a shuttle into the town areas for shopping and looking about.

Khao Lak Beach Area Resorts

The beach bearing the name of the area - Khao Lak Beach is on the southern end of the area that is commonly called Khao Lak.

A shorter beach than the others in the area, it will take a good hour to walk from one end to the other and the rocky areas at each end of the bay offer good snorkeling opportunities.

Khao Lak Beach is about an eight to ten minute drive into Baan La On - the main town part of the area.  Several local restaurants are available in the area.

Koh Khao Island Resorts

Would you like the beach all to yourself?  On parts of Kho Khao Island - the beach will be yours alone.  You can't find better beaches for a long solitary stroll.

A lovely island - but a bit quiet for some people.  If rushing about, shopping and nightlife are on your agenda - don't stay here.  If true peace and quiet ARE on your agenda, you will find paradise here.

The area between Khao Lak and Phuket is quickly going upscale with excellent villa resorts sitting on the beach fronts.  Part of its popularity is the residential nature of areas like Natai Beach, where villas beach front limit the number of resorts and keep the beaches uncrowded.

Natai Beach itself is only 15 minutes from Phuket International Airport - and much of these area is closer to the airport than the tourist centers of Phuket.

Resorts on Khuk Khak Beach

Midway between Cape Pakarang and Bang Niang Beach areas lies Khuk Khak Beach - a wonderfully long and peaceful haven of quiet and beautiful beach.

This area is still quite uncrowded but that also means there are limited options for beach restaurants and other services in the area.
